100 Words, 100 Days: Day 36. On Distractions.

Total focus is almost an impossibility nowadays. That which serves to make our lives easier and distraction-free generally ends up taking our attention away from the task at hand. Yes, technology, I’m looking at you.

For a writer, distractions are evils to be dealt with in manners that would make The Spanish Inquisition seem like ice-cream salesmen. So, off with the Internet, pull the plug on your 40″ HDTV, allow a little music to stimulate the senses if need be, put your phone on silent or knock it off entirely, and…

Oh look, is that a shiny thing I see over there?
